Seahawks First Preseason Game

The Seattle Seahawks offense looked horrendous in the first half in Thursday night’s game, only gaining 64 yards. Tavaris Jackson was sacked twice in his two series at the helm, and even worse Russel Okung left the game with an Achilles injury. The Seahawks first team secondary got burnt and Trufant got beat by Vincent Jackson on a 40 yard pass. The Seahawks did end up winning but who cares about winning in the preseason, fans were curious what Tavaris would do and it turns out he spent most of the game running for his life. The rush defense looked good and the lost of Lofa Tatupu didn’t seem to effect Seattle at all. The line consistently got penetration getting tackles for loss. If this is what the Seahawks are going to be like this season hide your eyes because its going to be Mariner-esque ugly.
On the other side of the spectrum the Chargers and Phillip River’s didn’t look like they missed a beat and Vincent Jackson and Phillip Rivers seemed to have the same chemistry as if no offseason was missed. The Chargers defense and in particular the defensive line of the first team seemed to get penetration consistently and generate pressure on the quarterback with 3 man rushes. The Chargers first team looked good and are definitely favorites to win the AFC West by several games.

Day 2: NFC East Preview

The Philadelphia Eagles obviously made the most noise this off-season adding Dominique Rogers-Cromartie via trade with the Arizona Cardinals when they parted ways with Kevin Kolb, and signing big time free agent Nnamdi Assomugha. The Eagles offense was explosive last year but the defensive secondary was horrendous, with these two additions they've fixed their problem. For this reason and the fact that they have the most explosive, exciting quarterback in the NFL in Michael Vick the Eagles will win the division. As for the Redskins they're the opposite they lack a good quarterback, lost Albert Haynesworth and were unable to add any big time free agents. The Redskins will once again finish in last place and might be in the running for Andrew Luck. The Cowboys are pretty average overall and Tony Romo is by far the most overrated quarterback in the NFL. They didn't add much this off-season and had an average draft, they also lost Roy Williams which was dead weight and have troublesome receiver Dez Bryant. The Cowboys will finish in third. The New York Giants off-season has been highlighted with the Osi fiasco, but they still have a great defense and if Eli Manning can return to his super bowl winning form the Giants will most certainly finish in second and be ultra competitive with Philly for the division crown.

Predicted NFL Divison Winners- NFC West

The preseason is among us and that means I shall indulge my followers with my predictions for this seasons divisional winners starting with the NFC West.
NFC West: Arizona Cardinals The NFC West was horrendous last year and seems as though its going to remain abysmal. The Seahawks added Sidney Rice, but they forgot to add a capable quarterback to throw him the ball. Whitehurst and Tavaris Jackson are both temporary fixes while the future still lies in the draft. The Seahawks are my last place finishers, they lack the most important position, their defense didn't upgrade plus the loss of Tatupu and Trufant is garbage. St. Louis didn't add any new targets for Sam Bradford so second place will be in line for them once more. The San Fransisco 49ers are a mess and for some bizarre reason re-signed Alex Smith. The team has talent but in the day where quarterback is the most important 3rd place is a good fit for the 49ers. I think the biggest question mark is Kevin Kolb and the Arizona Cardinals, Kolb is supposedly the greatest thing since sliced bread but is incredibly inexperienced but has Larry Fitzgerald, so in this case they're my favorite to win the division.
